Flights between South Sudan and Sudan suspended

South Sudan Minister of Transport, Agnes Bonny Lukudo, said in a press conference that from next week Monday on, all flights between Khartoum and Juba are suspended. The South Sudanese government received a letter from Khartoum announcing the suspension of the flights between the North and South. The letter stated that there will be no flights until the two countries reach an agreement to operate their flights in accordance with international air operations. All passengers between the countries will then be treated in accordance with immigration and custom rules. The Sudanese Minister of Social Welfare and Security, Amira Al-Fadil, said these measures should not affect the voluntary repatriation of Southerners. Until the countries sign an agreement, Southerners should return by road or train to their home country.
