At least five people from the Toposa tribe in Nadapal East County in South Sudan’s Kapoeta State have been reported killed in clashes with Turkana herders from neighboring Kenya on Monday, a lawmaker said.
Abdallah Angelo, a member of the Kapoeta state parliament, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the clashes took place after a group from the Toposa tribe went and raided cattle from the Turkana in retaliation for cattle raids carried out last month.
Angelo denied any knowledge of people killed from the Turkana tribe. He called on the two sides to stop cattle rustling.
