Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Commissioner of Mayom county John Bol accused elements from the armed opposition of attacking an area north of Wangkai in Mayom.

He said the attack resulted in the killing of five people and injured another three, while more than 2,000 cattle were raided.

“Elements from SPLM-IO on 6 May attacked cattle camps in Mayom county north of Wangkai area with heavy weapons. Five people were killed and three others injured and stolen more than 2,000 cattle,” said Bol.

The local official called on the leadership of the armed opposition in Juba led by Riek Machar to put pressure on their forces to stop attacking civilians and return the stolen cattle. Radio Tamazuj was unable to contact the armed opposition for comment.
