At least five Misseriya herders were killed in an attack by an armed group near Al Meiram town in Sudan’s West Kordofan State last Friday, according to eyewitnesses.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, several eyewitnesses said the five herders were attacked in Girinti area, some 20 Kilometers from Meiram town, while accusing South Sudan’s army of involvement in the attack.
The local residents pointed out that the nomads were grazing their cattle when they were attacked the SPLA soldiers who intended to loot the cattle.
The residents claimed that such attacks have become common in the area. They noted that the dead were buried on Saturday.
