At least five people were killed and another wounded in different incidents in South Sudan’s Western Lakes State over the weekend, a local official said.

Eastern Bahr Naam County Commissioner Mabor Makuac Ater told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that two university students were killed and another wounded when armed men attacked a vehicle at Aluak-luak area on Saturday.

Ater added that three people were also killed in attacks by cattle raiders in Paloc County on Sunday morning.

The local official accused a group of cattle raiders from Aluak-luak area of involvement in the incident.

Livestock-related conflict, including cattle raiding and disputes over grazing land and water points were identified as the top source of insecurity in region.
