At least five people were injured when unknown gunmen attacked a commercial vehicle on the road between Nhialdhiu and Bentiu towns in Northern Liech State on Sunday, an official said.
The state security advisor, Gordon Malo told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that a Land Cruiser vehicle was ambushed by gunmen at about 6:30 pm.
"The car had 12 passengers inside, five people were wounded and one passenger was seriously injured in the stomach,” he said.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers appeared in civilian clothes, but blamed the armed opposition forces (SPLA-IO) for the attack.
On his part, the SPLA-IO deputy military spokesperson, Lam Paul Gabriel categorically denied the alleged involvement of their forces in the attack.
"This is not true, and we do not have troops in the area where the incident took place. We must tell the truth,” he said.
