Five gunmen rape two women in Babanusa, West Kordofan

Two university students have reportedly been raped by five unidentified gunmen in Babanusa, West Kordofan state of Sudan.

The incident reportedly took place when the victims were on their way to sit for examinations at the University of Peace in Babanusa. A medical doctor confirmed the rape, while the authorities have not been able to arrest the perpetrators.

“Two women studying at the University of Peace were assaulted by armed men when they were on their way to sit for supplementary and substitute examinations. They were dragged over a long distance with their hands tightened”, a source confirmed.

Hassan Hamid, a citizen of Babanusa, told Radio Tamazuj that the citizens of the state deplore this atrocious case of rape. He added that the local people are perplexed by the incident of female students alternately raped by five gunmen in Samua station, between Babanusa and El Fula.

“The case was reported to the police. After that, the two students were taken to Babanusa hospital to medically ascertain the rape. Though the medical report confirmed the incident, the police was not able to trace the perpetrators”, according to Hamid.

The incident has angered the citizens of West Kordofan state. They have demanded from the authorities to take such heinous crimes seriously.
