A four-day peace and security conference bringing together five governors in South Sudan has concluded in Gok state with calls to strengthen security.
The event held at Cueibet town, the administrative headquarters of Gok state, brought together governors of Terekeka, Amadi, Gok, Western Lakes and Eastern Lakes states.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Eastern Lakes state governor Gen. Mangar Buong hailed the conference as successful, saying the leaders agreed to work together to jointly tackle the issue of security.
The governor pointed out they agreed on how to improve peaceful co-existence among the different communities and control cattle thieves between the five states.
He noted that the peace conference was concluded on 10 August.
Separately, Buong said that the security situation is stable, pointing that the main road between Eastern Lakes and the capital Juba has reopened.
