At least five people were apprehended by the police for selling narcotic drugs in the Bentiu Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Unity State on Monday.
David Matut Both, the deputy commander of joint police in camp, told Radio Tasmazuj on Tuesday that the five suspects were arrested on Monday for selling narcotic drugs.
“Five people were arrested at their shops selling the drugs known as cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and amphetamines which are examples of drugs classified as narcotics,” he said. “They will be sent to the police headquarters in Bentiu and a team from the Criminals Investigations Department (CID) will investigate them to find out why they are selling things that kill our people. After that, we will forward them to the Mobile Court that was established by the Government of Unity State.”
Matut said the police will continue to conduct raids on places and investigate people suspected of selling drugs.
