Officials in South Sudan’s Fashoda state say a fisherman was killed and another one was injured after they were attacked by an armed assailant last Friday.
Fashoda State Information minister Abdallah Kur Ayiik told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that an unknown assailant opened fire on the two who were fishing along the River Nile.
Kur said Ngor Mayiik Gocdhiang died instantly in the incident that happened in Wejrek County of Fashoda.
“The fisherman was fishing at a branch of the River Nile, where he was shot by an unknown gunman,” he added.
He further blamed the incident on armed allegedly from neighboring Akoka County.
Radio Tamazuj could not get a comment from the government authorities of Akoka County.
