South Sudan’s First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai, returned to the country this afternoon, after participating in the 29th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, in representation of the South Sudanese President, Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The two-day summit in Ethiopia centered on the theme of investing in youth.
Speaking to reporters at Juba Airport upon arrival this afternoon, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Martin Elia Lomuro said their visit to Addis Ababa was successful.
“The most important thing is that we have attended IGAD Council of Ministers meetings where South Sudan was the topic. In that respect, the discussion was about the implementation of the 31 communiqué of IGAD where establishment of the revitalization forum for implementation of the agreement in the Republic of South Sudan was indicated,” he said.
“We agreed in that meeting how to precede the IGAD Council of Ministers to produce some guidelines and matrix for implementation of the establishment for revitalization forum,” he added.
The cabinet minister pointed out that the upcoming IGAD ministerial summit will take place soon in Juba.
