Another group of 130 SPLA-IO have arrived in Juba yesterday. More than 600 of the opposition troops are already in the city and SPLM-IO expects 1,370 to be in Juba by the end of the week.
This comes after the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission suggested that the Transitional Government could be formed next week after the arrival of Dr. Riek Machar, chairman of SPLM-IO.
The parties to the peace agreement have agreed that 1,370 SPLM-IO troops is the minimum threshold to permit the return of the opposition group’s chairman to Juba.
