Fire guts petrol station in Blue Nile State capital

A big fire gutted offices and rooms of a petrol station belonging to a Chinese company based in Damazin town in Sudan’s Blue Nile state on Monday evening. The Chinese company was reportedly contracted to work on the heightening of the Roseires Dam.

An eyewitness told Radio Tamazuj that workers rushed to the scene to contain the fire and that they managed to recover an amount of 3000 SDG from the treasury before the offices got burned. No casualties were reported according to the source.

The workers attributed the fire to electrical fault. Radio Tamazuj could not reach the management of the company to provide further details.

In late January, a man died and various houses burned when a munitions store of the Division Four Infantry exploded in Damazin town. The explosion was also attributed to electrical fault.
