A devastating fire erupted in the Al-Firdous locality in East Darfur State causing extensive damage in the Safa neighborhood and affecting many citizens.
The blaze engulfed more than 24 houses, damaging 55 huts, 60 carts, and 65 smoking tents. Additionally, around 400 sacks of beans, furniture, and cash amounting to 45 million Sudanese Pounds were lost along with two vehicles, horse-drawn carts, and rickshaws.
The Local Security Committee assessed the material losses and provided in-kind donations to the affected families.
“Our brothers at the Zakat Chamber also contributed donations and grassroots local committees across the locality extended their support to the victims,” a local security committee who did provide his name said and added: “Consequently, a generous committee was formed, alongside support from the local community.”
Considering the magnitude of assistance required both from the local government and security apparatus, we appeal to supporting entities, organizations, governmental bodies, and charitable organizations to generously support these victims,” he added.
The official stated that the assistance should encompass providing shelter and provisions to alleviate the plight of the victims.
