A large fire has destroyed shops at Al Rawat Arab market in the town of Kosti in Sudan’s White Nile State on Thursday.

Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that shops burnt to ashes after an extensive fire broke out inside the market yesterday.

According to eyewitnesses, the cause of the fire remains unclear and that the losses are estimated at billions of Sudanese pounds.

They pointed out that local residents accused civil defens authorities of failing to control the fire.
