A ravaging fire on Saturday night at the UN PoC in Bentiu consumed hundreds of shops, most of them selling food supplies and clothes, a camp manager said.
There were no reports of injuries because the fire broke out after most of the shops had closed.
Camp leader Yohanis Gatnyang Tap told Radio Tamazuj Sunday that the midnight fire has destroyed goods and over 400 shops at Chapter Two area within the UN PoC.
Gatnyang pointed out that many of the affected traders lamented the situation. He explained that the fire started in the southern part of the camp.
The camp manager noted that they are yet to ascertain the cost of the fire. He said, however, that they are still collecting information to establish the cause of the destruction.
