Witnesses from the Umdoren locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan reported fighting between SPLM-N and Sudan armed force on Monday, resulting in death and injures of soldiers from both sides.

Two civilians and farms were also destroyed during the fighting, which coincided with the visit of Sudanese First Vice President Bakri Hassan Salah.

Witnesses told Radio Tamazuj that the fighting started in the morning when a force loyal to the SPLM-N attacked Sudan Armed Forces in Kuteng village, leaving many dead and injured from both sides. They said the Sudan Armed Forces dropped weapons on a house, killing a man and his wife.

Sources inside Kadugli town say that the Sudan Air Force has started to attack areas far from Kadugli town.

Sudanese president Omer al Bashir announced in June a four month ceasefire in the two areas of Blue Nile and South Kordofan. The plan was to allow those who took up arms to join the peace process, and for them to join the national dialogue.
