Fierce clashes between Sudanese army and SPLM-N in Blue Nile state

At least seven people have reportedly been killed and another 20 were wounded in fierce clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and militia troops and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) during this week in Bau locality in Blue Nile State.

While, a source confirmed that the wounded people were taken to hospital in Damazin for treatment.

Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that the clashes forced hundreds of families living at Khor Adar Misfa and Abu Garin to seek refuge in various areas within the Blue Nile and Sennar, amidst a dire humanitarian situation. 

El Simet Ali Awad, an eyewitness, affirmed a heavy military build-up on the southern part of Kurmuk and the western bank of Bau locality.             

Awad pointed out that the SAF build-up comes after statements recently made by Sudanese officials, among them Defence Minister Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein. He announced that by the end of 2014 there will be no rebellion and armed conflicts any longer across Sudan, saying that the insurgency will be eliminated by military superiority of the Sudanese army at the battle fields.

The residents of Kurmuk, Geissan and Al Tadamon localities are anxious about the deployment of government forces in their areas, according to the sources.
