Leaders of the feuding Awlad Omran and Al-Zeyoud clans of the Arab Misseriya tribe in Sudan’s West Kordofan state agreed Wednesday to hold a peace and reconciliation conference in Ad Daein town in East Darfur on 11 February, a local chief said.

Misseriyia nazir (paramount chief) al-Nazeer Jibril al-Guni told Radio Tamazuj that the two sides have agreed to convene a peace meeting on 11 February. He said the date was set after a two-day meeting in Al Fula town.

The traditional leader said the meetings were attended by prominent native administration leaders in the presence of state governor Abulgasim Amin Baraka.

Al-Guni said that about 70 people from the two sides were invited to participate in the upcoming peace conference. He noted that the peace conference will start by implementing resolutions adopted in a previous En Nahud conference.

The tribal leader reaffirmed their readiness to reach a final agreement in order to bringing an end to the running feud between the two Misseriya clans.
