Several activists in Sudan’s East Darfur State expressed concern at ‘mounting tensions’ between the Rizeigat and Ma’alia tribes in the state.
This fear surfaced after the two tribes failed to reach an agreement at a peace meeting held in Abu Haraz area near Khartoum city last week.
Mustafa Bakhit, a local activist in Ad Daein town, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that cattle thefts between the two sides over the past two days caused fears that fighting could erupt at any time between the two tribes.
The activist accused the state government of failing to bring an end to the ongoing cattle thefts between the two sides in the area.
