Fears of high miscarriage rate near Kordofan oil field

The number of cases of miscarriage among pregnant women in Tabon region in South Kordofan is reported to have increased greatly.

A medical source from the region asserted that there was a high incidence of miscarriage among pregnant women, and that health centers recorded more than 20 miscarriages in the month of July alone.

The source stated that the likely reason of the increase in miscarriage is the intensification of oil exploration in the field of Zarga Um Hadida near Tabon, in addition to the pipeline construction between the areas of exploration in the region and Baleela field. The pipeline passes near Tabon.
