Fears of air strikes after disturbances in Roseires

Villagers from Karma in Roseires District in Blue Nile are living in fear of aerial bombardment by Sudanese government warplanes in the wake of a protest against plans to relocate the village.

In interviews on Tuesday, a number of sources from Blue Nile stated that a plane bombed the area on Sunday stirring up great fear. The bombing came after Karma residents went on strike last Saturday protesting a government decision to relocate them without compensating them appropriately.

Protestors were said to have been confronted with live bullets by security agents which left four dead and others wounded. Some protesters were also jailed.

Among the affected villages are: Khor Al-Fata, Bishan, Khor Al Qana, Abu Shanina, Abu Shandi, Mariba, and Adifa.

Citizens who spoke to Radio Tamazuj called on relevant authorities to intervene, rescue the situation and let the people go back to their residences.
