Fear of crops destruction in Aweil North after River flooding

Flooding of the Makadhiik River is likely to cause massive destruction on crops before the harvest stage, an official in the newly created Malual North County of Lol state told Radio Tamazuj.

Flooding of the Makadhiik River is likely to cause massive destruction on crops before the harvest stage, an official in the newly created Malual North County of Lol state told Radio Tamazuj.

Malual North County deputy executive director Kuot Anyuon said that thousands of people could be affected by the flooding, and some villages in the area have already been affected.

“The areas of Warchuei, Pacthok, and Kang Kuot which are agriculture fertile farm lands and where many people have cultivated have so far flooded,” Anyuon said. “Kar Kang Luol is also already over flood” Kuot said

The official has called for flood risk and disaster management teams to conduct assessmented into affected areas.
