Authorities in Wullu County of Lakes State have said that the father of murder suspect, Loor Mathiang Yai, who allegedly on Friday last week killed the father and a brother of a man who committed adultery with his wife, committed suicide by hanging.

Authorities in Wullu County of Lakes State have said that the father of murder suspect, Loor Mathiang Yai, who allegedly on Friday last week killed the father and a brother of a man who committed adultery with his wife, committed suicide by hanging.

Daffala Rejab, the commissioner of Wullu County confirmed that Mathiang Yai, the father of Loor Mathiang Yai who is on the run, hanged himself in Adirdir-Mabok village on Sunday.

“We know there is no other reason for Mathiang Yai to commit suicide by hanging on Sunday other than because his son has been committing a lot of crimes including this murder of the father and a brother of a man who committed adultery with his wife,” Commissioner Rejab said. “Whenever he committed a crime, his father was always the victim. Sometimes his father can spend 6 months or more in prison, which is a reason he committed suicide because he didn’t want to be arrested by the government again because of the crime committed by his son.”

The commissioner said that he had a phone conversation with the suspect, Loor Mathiang, who is at large on his bodyguard’s phone and he ordered him to surrender himself to any police station in Lakes State if he fears reporting himself in Wullu County.

“When he called my bodyguard and I was given the phone, I talked to him for almost four hours and urged him to report himself to any nearby police station in Lakes State so that he is investigated and taken to court,” Rejab said.

The commissioner said that when he heard of the suicide, he dispatched security forces to the village where it happened and the body was removed and brought to Wullu and given to relatives for burial in Dukulu village.

The police chief inspector in Wullu County, Colonel Machar Maker Riel, said that the old man was fed up with the heinous crimes committed by his son.

“This is the fifth crime by his son, Loor Mathiang, and that might be the reason the old man committed suicide because he did not want to be arrested because of his son’s crime,” Col. Maker said.
