Seven people are reported to have died in a fatal road accident on the route between Nimule and Juba, South Sudan’s most trafficked road to Uganda.
The only tarmac inter-city road in the country is known for fatal road accidents owing to over-speeding.
Okot Francis, a witness, said he saw the accident today, in which a Toyota Noah coming from Nimule toward Juba overturned.
He described the vehicle as a dark blue private vehicle used as a public bus, which are known locally as ‘muwasalat.’
“There are seven people who died,” he said, adding that he saw others injured being taken back toward Juba for treatment.
The accident took place at around 3:00 today near Jebelein. Soldiers were present on the scene, said Francis.
