Farmers in Aweil State received groundnut seeds on Tuesday courtesy of the national Agricultural Bank in Juba.

Aweil state agriculture minister Garang Garang told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that about 500 farmers have benefited from the distribution of the groundnut seeds in greater Aweil.

Garang also said the donation from the Agricultural Bank is a loan that the farmers will have to pay back after the next harvest season.

The minister revealed that the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and other partners have also donated sorghum, maize, and okra seeds to about 2,000 farmers in greater Aweil.

Garang added that although the seeds are not enough for all the farmers in the state, the donations will help ensure food security in the coming seasons.
