A peace conference between Wau farmers and herders from neighbouring states is scheduled to conclude today in Marialbai area in South Sudan’s Wau State, a local official said.
Michael Ricardo Ogali, Bazia County Commissioner, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the peace conference between local farmers and pastoralists from Gogrial and Tonj states would be concluded today.
He pointed out that the meeting was organized by the state government in collaboration with several government officials from Gorgrial and Tonj states.
Separately, Commissioner Ogali said the state government is planning to establish cantonment sites for the SPLA-IO forces in the area, while calling on local youth to join the peace process.
The local official noted that his county is entirely deserted by citizens after clashes between government troops and opposition fighters in September.
