The family of the Late Honorable Mary Kiden Kimbo says the body of their kin will be transported back to South Sudan for burial once preparations are complete.

Hon. Kiden, 66, an ardent and veteran politician, breathed her last on Monday at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya where she was receiving intensive treatment.

Her daughter Diana Hassan told Radio Tamazuj that her mother was being treated for severe pneumonia and infections.

“Hon. Mary Kiden died on Monday at 2:15 pm. She was brought to Nairobi a week ago, since Sunday. She was admitted to the ICU. She had severe pneumonia and a bit of infection. But we did not think that the infections would become worse. So, since she was brought, she was admitted at the intensive care until Monday when she died,” she mourned.

She revealed that the family was still working on getting hospital and transportation clearances. 

“We are still here in Nairobi planning to take her body back to South Sudan. I have been with her throughout, I was the one who brought her from Juba last Saturday,” she said. “We are still clearing with the paperwork, when we finish with that, we will take her. So, we are looking at until maybe next week.”

The Late Mary Kiden served as the first Minister for Gender, Social Welfare and Religious Affairs of the semi-autonomous government of Southern Sudan from 2005 to 2009, and until her death served as a member of parliament representing Constituency no. 10,  Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria State.

Central Equatoria State governor Emmanuel Adil while eulogizing the fallen politician, described her as 'industrious, devoted, generous, cheerful and above all a stateswoman with enormous influence as well as wise counsel and guidance.'

According to Hon Paul Yoane, the head of the parliamentary specialized parliamentary committee on information the Late was very instrumental, very articulate, a highly renowned economist.
