The family of the ousted governor of South Sudan’s Wau State Elias Waya Nyipuoc is demanding their father be released or charged.
Sarah Elias Waya, who is Waya’s daughter, told Radio Tamazuj today that her father has been in detention for about four months without any investigation or charge.
Sarah further said Elias Waya’s health condition was deteriorating, saying her father is still suffering from high blood pressure and other health problems.
“He is still suffering from high blood pressure although he takes medications, he was supposed to go for a medical check up also, because he had a surgical operation on the pancreas, “she said.
“I don’t think that there is a medical specialist in Juba here, but he was told that if he wants to see the doctor he should write a letter so that it can be approved, “she added.
Former Governor Elias Waya was arrested just hours after President Kiir issued a decree sacking him from office in less than seven months since his appointment.
