The family of Dr. Farah Agar, an adviser at the peace talks from the SPLM-North side, is demanding he is released or given the right to know the charges against him.
Sudanese security forces in December picked up Agar along with the head of the opposition National Consensus Forces Farouk Abu Issa and Sudan Human Rights Monitor President Amin Mekki Madeni less than a day after their return to Khartoum from Ethiopia.
On 3 December, the three signed a declaration with armed rebel groups entitled the ‘Sudan Appeal’ demanding end of war and democratic transition in Sudan.
Agar’s family members say they are concerned about their son after his detention after returning back from Ethiopia.
Adel Ibrahim, the brother of Farah Agar told Radio Tamazuj that Farah was detained for no reason because if there were charges they should have been known.
“We used to visit him in detention and his health condition is good, but he should be released for social reasons,” he appealed.
