The family of detained journalist Joseph Afandi has called on South Sudan’s National Security Service to release him or announce charges against him.

The family of detained journalist Joseph Afandi has called on South Sudan’s National Security Service to release him or announce charges against him.

Afandy has been held for more than two weeks after publishing an opinion article in El Tabeer newspaper criticizing the ruling party in South Sudan.

Afandi’s sister told Radio Tamazuj that the family have sent many letters to different government officials in the country including the legal advisor to Salva Kiir, Lawrence Korbandi, for the release of the journalist.

She said the family doesn’t know his whereabouts or any crime committed.
