The family of a detained young activist Mohamed Mokhtar is calling for their son to be released from prison in Khartoum.

The family of a detained young activist Mohamed Mokhtar is calling for their son to be released from prison in Khartoum.

Mohamed Mokhtar aged 26 was arrested in Abu Jubeiha in South Kordofan by security agents on 6 October. He is accused of distributing publications to the public in the locality.

Separately, a source told Radio Tamazuj that a number of local youth who were arrested in early October are still in detention.

The arrested activists were identified as Motaz Mohamed Ahmed, El Buseiri Saleh Omer, Mohamed Abdel Ghafar Saeed and Ahmed Adam El Jarari as well as El Dou Kambal.
