The family of detained Pastor Malong Bak of Jenina Christians’ Tabernacle (JCT) in Aweil State is calling for his immediate release.
Pastor Bak along with 14 other church members was arrested last week for protesting against a government decision to demolish the church buildings over a land row.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the wife of Pastor Bak, Akec Tong, said her husband and the rest of the church were being held without due process.
Akec said the church is the rightful owner of the plot where the church is built saying they have ownership documentation issued by the authorities.
But Aweil state Police commissioner, Machiek Chol Kueth said the 15 were arrested for obstructing the law after they defied orders to vacate the plot.
"The court has proven that the plot belongs to a person named Ali Abdullah Ali and it does not belong to the church," Chol said.
Chol added that the members of the church will remain in detention until they face trial.
