About 2,000 heads of cow will be distributed to families in Gogrial East and West to compensate them for people killed in recent intercommunal fighting, according to Warrap state Information Minister Paul Dhel Gum.

Dhel told Radio Tamazuj that a government delegation had visited the area and established a special court to adjudicate the recent clashes between the two counties. A judge from the high court will preside, alongside five chiefs and the first sitting is scheduled for Thursday. 

Dhel confirmed suspects have been arrested in connection with the fighting, which left 78 people dead, according to a preliminary investigation.

Additional security forces have been deployed along the border between the two counties in anticipation of further fighting.
