Fallata chief demands expulsion of LRA from Sudan’s South Darfur state

Yusuf al-Samani, the paramount chief of the Fallata tribe in Sudan’s South Darfur state, has demanded the expulsion of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) from the area.

Yusuf al-Samani, the paramount chief of the Fallata tribe in Sudan’s South Darfur state, has demanded the expulsion of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) from the area.

The tribal leader called on the Sudanese government and the international community to protect them from LRA attacks in Songo, Um Dafok, and Dafak areas.  He stressed that the LRA forces should be expelled from the Sudanese territory.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, al-Samani said LRA troops have attacked members of his tribe especially herders in Um Dafok and Dafak areas.

He pointed out that they informed commanders of the Sudanese army deployed on the Dafak-Um Dafok borders about the LRA attacks, without any response so far.

Radio Tamazuj recently reported that the LRA established various camps inside Sudanese territory especially in Um Darota, al-Murraya al-Muwashama and in remote areas to the west of Dafak and Songo areas.

The paramount chief previously said the Fallata killed Ta’isha traders during fighting with the LRA in early January, and the two tribes have agreed on blood money to be paid.
