Yusuf al-Samani, the Paramount Chief of Falata tribe has urged the governor of Sudan’s South Darfur state to reconsider his decision to remove several native administration chiefs who were arrested two weeks ago.
In statement to Radio Tamazuj after a visit to the arrested chiefs in Nyala prison, al-Samani urged the governor not to remove the chiefs.
He said the tribal leaders were sacked without consultation because of recent clashes between the Falata and Salamat tribes in South Darfur. The chief expressed his hope that the governor will reconsider his decision to remove the tribal leaders.
