Failed sesame harvest in north Blue Nile

The sesame harvest has failed at a number of agricultural project in the areas of Bok, But and Ahmar Silik on the borderline between Blue Nile and Sennar states.

Farmers told Radio Tamazuj that they had been unable to harvest sesame at their farms due to the poor security situation in the area. They pointed to the departure of hundreds of workers from the area, including the Gadora projects, after repeated attacks by armed groups, which have worsened recently.

With the approach of the sorghum harvest and shortage of pastures, there remain expectations of further clashes between herders and farmers in the area south of Al Mazmum.
