President Omar al Bashir appointed new ministers, governors and ministers of state over the weekend. The reshuffle saw the return of many of the same federal ministers but also the transfer or removal of most of the state governors.
The governors and ministers took the oath of office on Sunday at the Republican Palace in Khartoum.
A number of the appointed governors had already been serving as governors in other states and have been transferred under a new deliberate policy of governing states with governors that do not hail from the state to which they are appointed.
