Eye Radio FM to resume broadcast after closure

Eye Radio FM in South Sudan’s capital Juba is expected to resume its broadcasting tomorrow morning after being shutdown by National Security Service officers last week.

Eye Radio FM in South Sudan’s capital Juba is expected to resume its broadcasting tomorrow morning after being shutdown by National Security Service officers last week.

“The management of Eye Radio is pleased to inform our listeners and the general public that Eye Radio is back on air on Saturday, 19 November 2016, from 9:00 am,” reads a notice published by Eye Radio on its website this evening.

“Matters concerning the recent shutdown of the station have been discussed and amicably resolved with authorities,” added the station.

The Chief Executive Officer of Eye Media, a South Sudanese NGO managing Eye Radio, announced recently that the shutdown was due to a short news clip of Riek Machar played about a month ago when Machar was leaving Khartoum for South Africa.

Eye Radio is a popular radio station in Juba with a number of FM repeaters elsewhere in the country in several key towns.
