Expectant women in Torit urged to utilise health facilities for delivery

A health worker at Kapoeta Hospital has asked expectant mothers to shun traditional birth attendants saying it is safe for the mothers to visit the health facilities when they are expectant to get better healthcare.

Midwife Lucia Mayong told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the health facility is able to identify danger signs during early pregnancy stages and it offers babies their first immunization after delivery.

She complained that many expectant women in Kapoeta suffer from health problems because they do not visit health facilities in the area.

"We are here in the hospital to help them. We are able to identify the dangers an expectant mother may be exposed to from early stages and after delivery,” she said.
