Expanding dam reservoir threatens Blue Nile villages

Waters are rising in the Roseires dam reservoir after the dam management decided to close the gates of the dam in the middle of the current month. The water level has risen to within the outskirts of several villages on the southern, eastern and western shores of the lake.

Abu Ashra area neighboring Abu Gomi area is threatened with drowning in the coming hours, sources reported yesterday, in addition to the Al Ragibha area located about 15 kilometers south of Damazin which was cleared of residents on Wednesday.

These developments coincided with the visit of the Minister of State and the Director General of the Department of Dams Unit Mohammed Hassan Al Hadari to Damazin on Wednesday.
