Former governor of the now defunct Warrap State, who is also an adviser at the ministry of culture, has rebelled saying non-violent approach and peace talks are untenable means to stop the war with the government.

Lewis Anei Madut Kuendit said in a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj that he decided to join the armed opposition group because non-violent approach was not viable.

“Because of this, I hereby submit to declare having joined my fellow citizens and leaders in the South Sudan United Front, to throw in my lot as the only viable way to bring change of this situation in our country. To bring down this security regime through peace talks or through none violent approach is in my view, untenable,” he wrote.

Previously, Anei resigned from his position as secretary general of the Jieng (Dinka) Council of Elders and formed a political organization called the Republican Party of South Sudan.

Anei also abandoned his political party in Juba.

Subday de John, spokesman of the rebel group led by Gen. Paul Malong confirmed Lewis Anei joined their movement.
