Former Managing Director of state-run oil company Nilepet Paul Adong was found dead in his hotel room in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
Kondok Wurok, South Sudan Consul General in Dubai and Northern Emirates told Radio Tamazuj this afternoon that the former managing director of Nilepet was in Dubai for a medical checkup until they learnt and confirmed his demise on Sunday evening through Dubai’s police.
According to the South Sudanese diplomat, details on the cause of Paul Adong’s death are yet to be released.
“Until this moment, the autopsy report has not been released but we will inform the public accordingly as soon as it is out,” Kondok said.
He added, “His family will be here as well any time soon. Hon. Paul was a public figure due to the previous positions he held in the Government of South Sudan and as such we are obliged to treat his case with a sense of responsibility.”
The diplomat said losing Eng. Paul at such tender age is a huge loss and deficit to the nation as a whole.
The late was the first Managing Director of the National Petroleum Company until his sacking in May 2015.
After his removal by President Salva Kiir, Paul was transferred to the Ministry of Petroleum where he served briefly before establishing his private oil company.
