A leading member of the national dialogue steering committee set up by President Kiir said shared values and history can unite people in the same manner football does in South Sudan.

Lily Albino Akol Akol, who is a former deputy minister of agriculture, said Friday in a message welcoming and commending the high turnout of football fans in Juba to boost the morale of South Sudanese team playing against Uganda’s team that love which brings people together can equally be explored to unite the nation.

“I love my people. They are simple, easy going and peace loving. I'm so touched by the scenes of jubilation on the streets of Juba ahead of the South Sudan and Uganda football Match,” said Lily.

The official while wishing the national team the best said unity can make people achieve a lot than expected. “Wishing our Bright Stars all the best of luck, and if football can unite us in such a strong way, what about our shared values and our shared history?! Think about it! Together we can move mountains,” she said.
