Former deputy head of South Sudan’s Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission has welcomed the decision of President Salva Kiir removing him from his assignment after spending 12 years in office.

“You appointed me twelve years ago as the deputy chairperson the then Southern Sudan Reconstruction and Development Fund when I was 37 years old, perhaps making me the youngest person as constitutional post holder under your leadership,” said Majur Mayor Machar.

President Kiir, according to Majur, moved him from the reconstruction and development fund in 2011 to disarmament, demobilization and reintegration commission as the deputy chairperson.

“My length of service from 2006 to 2018 under your leadership is 12 years consecutively which gave me the opportunity to learn and developed”, he said.

The former official congratulated his successor, Obwaha Claude Kasha on his appointment as the deputy chairperson.
