A conference that brought together Episcopal bishops to review and streamline liturgy and worship books concluded in South Sudan’s Jonglei State Friday.
Several clergies and bishops from the internal province of Jonglei attended the five-day symposium in the state capital, Bor.
The Bishop of Bor Diocese, Ruben Akurdit Ngong said review of the books in Dinka dialect was done for the first since 1662.
“The ones we use in our service today were never reviewed since they were translated from English. Our language has changed. Sometimes young people do not understand what we are talk about,” he told Radio Tamazuj.
Akurdit said the reviewed version of the liturgy and worship books would improve church services and keep young people engaged.
Jonglei internal province consists of Bor diocese headed by Akurdit, Twic East diocese led by Ezekiel Ding Malangdit, Wangole diocese headed by Zechariah Manyok and Kongoor diocese under Gabriel Kuch Agok.
The conference, however, missed the participation of Athooc diocese leader, Moses Anur, Peter Joh Mayom of Malek diocese, John Jok of Akobo diocese as well as Thomas Tut of Ayod diocese.
