At least eight people were killed in a road ambush in Abu Kershola locality of Sudan’s South Kordofan state on Monday.

Local sources in Abu Kershola told Radio Tamazuj people driving a water tanker were ambushed by elements of SPLM-N on the road to the locality.

The sources said the incident created fear among the citizens who fled the town before returning Tuesday morning.

The sources said soldiers of the Sudan Armed Forces and dozens of Popular Defense Forces troops are also leaving the town too after refusing to fight following redeployment from Khor al-Daleb to Al-Nugra in South Kordofan.
