The Egyptian Ambassador to South Sudan, Mohamed Mansur, and South Sudan Minister for Water Resources and Irrigation, Manawa Peter, on Tuesday visited Western Bahr el Ghazal State capital Wau to assess the River Baher el Ghazal dredging project.
“The project started long ago but did not go as planned and this time we are determined to undertake a better operation.” Ambassador Mohamed Mansur said, “Throughout the visit, we have assessed some institutions initiated by Egypt such as technical schools.”
Manawa Peter, the National Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, revealed that “after the project is completed, it will improve the river navigation system which will enhance river transport.”
On her part, Sarah Cleto, the Governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, expressed gratitude for the visit of both dignitaries and the operationalization of the river dredging project.
“The state government will ensure the implementation of the project,” she said.
The Project is jointly implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Cooperation with its South Sudanese counterpart.
The delegation flew in from Juba and back after the assessment visit for further discussions in Juba.
