Edward Lino appointed as Abyei committee co-chair

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit yesterday issued a presidential decree for the appointment of Edward Lino Wuor as new co-chairman of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (AJOC). Lino will be deputised by Deng Mading  Majak. His counterpart on the northern side remains al-Khair al-Fahim. The former head of the committee representing South Sudan, Luka Biong, had resigned early in January amid plans to teach at a university in the United States. The South Sudanese committee members will be under the supervision of the minister of presidential affairs in Juba.
