The education supervisor in South Sudan’s Western Equatoria was killed in Yambio by gunmen earlier this week, commissioner of Yambio county Hussein Ibrahim Enoka said.
Jacob Mathew was killed in an area called Mumbai north of Yambio town which is under the control of armed groups, Hussein said.
Ibrahim Bashir, director of Human Rights Forum in Yambio, called on the authorities to investigate the incident as well as the killing of two other people this week.
Enoka revealed that there is contact with the armed groups in the state for reaching peace, adding that a peace agreement will be signed with them in the coming days after a delegation from the national government arrive in Yambio.
He called on the local community and the warring parties to implement the peace agreement signed August last year.
